Weekly Wrap-Up: The One Where I Post Late…

Yes, yes, I know, this post isn’t actually very punctual…  Generally a weekly wrap-up wraps up the week {so it’s not usually posted on a Monday}, but I was so exhausted after our trip last week that I just couldn’t get this posted!

Last week Babydoll and I headed up to NC for a short visit with family.  I promised my 15 year old brother that I’d come to one of his homeschool league soccer games and this was my last chance before the end of the season.  They had not scored a goal all season {which means they had not won a game all season}, and they managed to pull off a 3-0 win!  It was so exciting!!  He played really well, especially for a kid that hasn’t played before in his life.

The next day was spent driving him three hours to visit NASCAR Technical Institute.  They have an eleven month automotive program and then a Ford specific program that would prep him for entry into the job force as an ASE certified mechanic.  However, I’m a bit leery of the fact that he wouldn’t get a degree {no general education requirements} and it’s about $35,000-$45,000 to attend for a year and a half.  I found him a community college alternative that sounds to be just as great, if not better.  He’d get a degree at the end of two years and be studying in a Ford-developed program, working half of each semester {and getting paid for it} at a local Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership.

With all the driving {3-7 hours each day last week, M-F}, I decided to extend the trip by a day, getting back just in time for Babydoll’s back-to-back soccer games this past weekend.  We also went to the pumpkin patch, which truthfully was a complete rip-off.  It cost $30 for the three of us to get in, which did include a pumpkin a piece, but then they wanted $25 additional dollars if you wanted a large pumpkin!  They weren’t even that big.  In WA you got in for free and just paid a certain price per pound for your pumpkin.

We’ve got a week packed full of field trips this week and lots of soccer, so hopefully with the magic of to-do lists I’ll survive!
