Weekly Wrap-Up: The One with a Cookie Factory, Girl Scouts, and Other Fun

While I thought this was a crazy busy week for us, Babydoll probably enjoyed it more than I know.  It was packed with fun stuff!

The week started with a cookie factory tour, and really, what better way to start off your week?  {Actually, that would be a cookie tour that doesn’t start at 9 am in Birmingham, but you know…}

We also had a Girl Scout meeting this week.  Babydoll and my other Brownie scout worked on {and earned} a few Try-Its.  In two weeks they will be heading on a homeschool field trip that happens to be on meeting day, so we’re tying it in to another Try-It they can earn.

We worked on fractions in Math, which Babydoll has really taken a liking to.  In Language Arts, we continued learning about verb tenses {I swear I didn’t learn this many different tenses}.  The Crusades, Robin Hood, and the Magna Carta were discussed in History.  We also did some Literature and worked on her blog a tiny bit.

Science was major fun this week as we learned about the human body, specifically cells and the digestive system.  Babydoll made a cell with a Ziploc bag, pineapple Jell-O, and a maraschino cherry.  She then “divided” the cell to see how cells divide.  She also made “Donna Digestion” {that was quite possibly the most insane project K12, Inc., has ever come up with-but Babydoll enjoyed it} with a cardboard circle, yarn hair, construction paper mouth, tube sock esophagus, construction paper stomach, and 6 pairs of stocking stapled together to make intestines.  Crazy I tell you!  All so that Donna could eat a plastic strawberry and “digest” it…

Friday we toured a home that had been offered up as a co-op location, and Babydoll made a new friend while there.  Straight from there, we headed to a park play date.  Today Babydoll has an away soccer game {45 minutes away…} and we’ll work on our cakes for the fair tomorrow.  Then tomorrow it’s off to the fair to see our cakes be judged.

How was your week?  Check out Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers for other weekly wrap-ups!
