The Homeschool Mother’s Journal – Week 3

The Homeschool Chick

wootSAUCE!  I have been wanting to participate in this since it started, and just haven’t had a chance.  But here I sit at my freshly cleaned and polished bar, with yummy {friggin’ delicious} Talenti Tahitian Vanilla Bean Gelato, all family members asleep, Gilmore Girls on in the background, with the desire to sit and write on the good ol’ blog!  On with the uber-fun…

In my life this week…

Among the normal crazy busy stuff, I enjoyed beginning the planning stages of several home decor/remodelling projects.  We need a magnetic dry erase board for Babydoll’s All About Spelling, so we decided that instead of buying the normal boring ones, we’d make one!  It’s turning out to be about double the price, but you can’t beat pink girly fun stuff.  Period.

I’ve also started planning my laundry room remodel.  I’m getting a new washer and dryer soon and I’m going to be painting, adding cabinets, all sorts of fun stuff.  I’m thinking of ordering a Style Tile from IHeart Organizing to help me along.  On the one hand I’m thinking, “It’s a laundry room; how hard can it be?”  However, on the other hand, I’m thinking, “I’m not terribly decorating-ly inclined, so maybe I should get any help I can.”

And finally, I’ve started compiling pictures from our Grand Canyon visit we took on our move out to AL, so that good ol’ CakeSpy can create an uber-wonderful picture for the space above my fireplace.  The painting will be of us as cupcakes at the Grand Canyon.  Really, what’s cuter?  I also plan on commissioning her to do a piece for the laundry room:  cupcakes doing laundry the old-fashioned way, with lots of suds, and cupcake wrappers hanging from a clothesline, blowing in the wind {last part is courtesy of Vince}.

I was also pushed out of the house and told to go forth and shop.  For myself.  *squee*

In our homeschool this week…

We spent a great deal of time on spelling and math.  We got our new All About Spelling materials and Babydoll’s been begging to do a good bit of it each day.

Places we’re going & people we’re seeing…

Last week we went to see Hansel & Gretel at the Cupcake Castle at the Birmingham Children’s Theater.  So awesome.  This coming week we’ll be heading back to puppy classes with Winston, picking up Girl Scout cookies, delivering Girl Scout cookies, and starting Girl Scout cookie booth sales.

My favorite thing this week was…

Seeing how excited Babydoll got about All About Spelling and her new Math-U-See materials.

What’s working/not working for us…

Loving AAS and MUS!
