Weekly Wrap-Up: The One with the Best Laid Plans

This week was a pretty decent week. My husband had off this week and we got to spend quite a bit of time with him, which is always a treat {and we get that once a month, how lucky are we?!?!}.

Monday morning I found myself heading to downtown B’ham to attend the “Get Motivated” seminar. Sure, I knew that it would be your typical “you’re so awesome, you can do anything you set your mind to” laced with a few sales pitches, but General Colin Powell was speaking, and I wanted to see that. Turns out everyone in the state of Alabama did too, so after fighting traffic through downtown for close to an hour, I found out that they were no longer letting anyone into the seminar. Uber bummer.

So what did I do while waiting to go pick up Girl Scout cookies? Why, I went and got my car washed of course! And yes, yes it did start to rain as they were finishing up my beauty. I then headed over to a new grooming shop to check it out and see if it was good enough for Sir Winston {it was, so I made him an appointment}.

From there, I went to pick up all 74 cases of Girl Scout cookies my troop sold during presales. Yay!!!! Not… Thank goodness my co-leader met me there to take her cookies off my hands, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to take them all. And yep, they had to be loaded in the rain. That was so fun…

Don’t worry, the cat didn’t like mess with anyone’s cookies…

While I was away doing all the fun stuff, Babydoll worked on Language Arts and Social Studies {Economics} on Time4Learning.  Oh yeah, we’re hearting T4L right now, and I can’t wait to get the review together for all of you to read!

Tuesday we played hookie a bit and {at Daddy’s suggestion} went out to breakfast while Winston was being groomed.  Man oh man, Klingler’s is so freaking delicious.  Huge portions, yummy food, the stereotypical old German woman running the place, it had it all.  We’ve decided this will be our normal breakfast hangout once a week while Winston is at the groomer:  Groomer. Klingler’s. LibraryEvery Monday.  How fun!

Later in the day, we worked on Language Arts and Social Studies on T4L a bit more.  Right now I’ve got Babydoll reviewing character, plot, setting, etc., and studying up on making inferences.

The next few days were spent doing more Language Arts, Social Studies, and gaming {gotta work on that hand-eye coordination}.

Today I had to start prepping for Girl Scout cookie booth sales, so no real school got done.  I had to go get cash for change {so nice of the bank teller to remind me to hide the money so I didn’t get robbed over $300, loud, for everyone to hear}, pick up cookies, signs, and other booth sale related stuff.  I did manage to tell Babydoll she needed to do 30 minutes of DreamBox and 30 minutes of T4L {how’s that for super homeschool mom of the year?}.  Babydoll also started her “Advanced Training Program” for soccer this evening in the super freaking cold.

Hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to play store with Babydoll like I had wanted to do today.  I got the idea from Robin over at Live, Love, Educate.  I love her blog; sounds like we have quite a bit in common.  We’ve got two four hour booth sales though, and the delivery of all the cookies Babydoll has sold, so we’ll just have to see.

I’m hoping to get back to planning our life/school/everything for next week as well this weekend {I’ve been so bad about it, meaning I haven’t done it since before we got sick, and I feel so utterly ashamed}, mainly in an effort to get the house back in order {it looks like a metal band came through here, although my husband has been helping out a good bit} and to get some fun, yet useful, school time done {I’ve been suffering from that “Oh snap, she’s never going to get into college at this rate because I’m such a freaking screw up” thing lately}.  *sigh*  We’ll see.
