The Homeschool Mother’s Journal

In My Life This Week…

I’ve been such a slacker.  But it’s been fun slacking.  I got some work done around the house {and I do mean “some”}, went to the grand opening of our Publix {I adore Publix}, and did a lot of behind the scenes stuff with and thinking about my blog.

In Our Homeschool This Week…

We were slackers.  :o)  We finished Pippi Longstocking and Babydoll worked on her new Highlight’s Top Secret Adventure {more to come on that soon!}, but other than that, we really didn’t do much.

Places We’re Going and People We’re Seeing…

We’ve got a lot coming up this week.  A soccer game and just-for-fun dog show tomorrow, another soccer game on Sunday, three nights of soccer practice, and the symphony and archaeological center next week.  I think we’re sufficiently busy…

My Favorite Thing This Week Was…

Fishing in the pond behind the house with Vince.  Now, I am not a fisherwoman, but it was such a nice breezy evening and I enjoyed his company.

What’s Working/Not Working For Us…

We’re having trouble with composition.  Babydoll can answer questions and discuss things with you for hours, but ask her to write it down on a sheet of paper in proper form and we’ve got at least an hour ahead of us of revisions…  Maybe it’s the age, maybe I’m not explaining it well, maybe she just really hates writing, maybe the curriculum is asking too much.  Hopefully IEW will help solve this problem.

Blogger.  The more involved I get with my blog, the more I dislike Blogger.  I’m seriously considering the change to WordPress {as in, my blog designer is getting the files together to make the switch}, but I’m scared.  I continue to read the whole “do it sooner rather than later” thing, and know it’s correct.  I have a tiny bit of experience with coding and other such stuff, but the move scares me and I’m debating on whether or not to DIY or hire someone.

Homeschool Questions/Thoughts I Have…

How much composition do you do with your eight year old?

A Photo/Video/Link/Quote to Share…

While participating in the Ultimate Blog Party this week I came upon this post about using MS OneNote to lesson plan.  I really like it and thought maybe you guys could get some benefit out of it too.
