Ever feel like the universe is trying to tell you something?

I had that feeling this week.  On two separate occasions, I read about the vast benefits of sharing with other people.

Now, of course I share.  We’re all taught to do so.  But sometimes it becomes tempting to not share the really good stuff, the really informative stuff, for fear you’ll lose your spot in this digital world.

Well, my friends, I love you, and I’m glad you’re here with me.  I’m going to share two phenomenal resources that talk about how to make money online, both of which I found this week.

I’ve launched a digital product, and I’m so glad I did it, but there are so many things I’d do differently if I had to do it over again.

I also think that you can never learn too much about a subject.  Despite my “experience” I’ve gained so much from reading these two resources.

Important:  I chose not to use an affiliate link for one of the resources {the other does not have an open affiliate program} because I really wanted this to be a completely selfless act.  This is just me sharing what I’ve read and enjoyed.

5K SALES IN 365 DAYS

I found Mayi Carles just a few weeks ago via the iHN Social Media Pinterest board.

I was hooked. Great content {creative business, bloggy, organization type stuff}, an infectious smile, and all-around bouncy-bubbly-pizzazzy feel that made me even more excited to be in this space that I’m in.

I devoured her content.  I signed up for the newsletter.  I’m so glad I did.

I got the email where she introduced her 5K SALES IN 365 DAYS: A QUIRKY + PRACTICAL GUIDE TO CREATING BEST-SELLING DIGITAL PRODUCTS IN YOUR PAJAMAS eBook.

It only took me about five minutes to decide to take the plunge and purchase it.  I got the early-bird pricing, and let me tell you, this thing is worth it at any price.

Mayi calls it an anti-manual, and that’s one of the things that hooked me.  I don’t like following {all} the rules.  I think many, at least in this digital space, were meant to be broken.

I don’t like doing things the way everyone else does them, just because some really popular person said to do it that way.  I want what works for me, and my folks, whether bright pink is an “acceptable” color choice or not.

Because really, if you’re not happy, why do it?

This guide is full of practical, actionable information you can use to build your digital products, sales page, tribe, and bank account.  It’s not full of a bunch of fluff.  It’s written by a creative, so it really comes from an angle that other creatives can understand.

And, it gives the best advice on pricing I’ve ever read.

Go get it.  Now.

THE BOOTSTRAP VA

I was introduced to Lisa Morosky via this post on Blogging with Amy.  That’s right, it was just Tuesday.

“Get on the “Insider’s List” and get an eBook overview, plus special pricing”, Amy said.  Special pricing off of what price?  How much?

I decided to take the leap of faith and join.  I’m so glad I did.

Last night I purchased {and completely read} The Bootstrap VA: The Go-Getter’s Guide to Becoming a Virtual Assistant, Getting and Keeping Clients, and More!.

The eBook is unbelievably inexpensive for the information you get.  At over 150 pages and just $12.99, it’s a steal.

Right away, I learned something: VAing is not what you think it is.  It encompasses a vast array of services and fields.  It’s not just office work.

Why does this matter?  Because you might have something to offer!

Lisa gives very detailed information on a} whether starting a VA business is for you and b} how to start it, if it is.

One of my favorite parts? She gives you actual examples of each item.  She recommends you do “X,” and she shows you how she does “X” so you’re not left wondering exactly how it should be done.

Absolutely can’t recommend it enough.

Sweet Phenomena Went to the Beauty Parlor!

That’s right; things are different around here!  Sweet Phenomena felt it was high time she had a makeover.

I’m absolutely gushing; I’m rather pleased with what she chose.  If you’re reading this in your reader or email, you must visit the blog to check out the changes.

Here’s a rundown of the work she had done:

  • NEW LOGO - This is a pretty obvious change.  The cupcake juggling lady has served her purpose.  She was a lovely lady, but she needed a break.
  • NEW COLORS - You’ll still find tons of pink, because it wouldn’t be SP without it.  The shade is slightly different, but I think it fits well with the blue and orange.
  • NEW LAYOUT – I wanted something that was more of a jumping-off point for visitors, so I’m glad the makeover included a homepage, as opposed to just the blog.  Visitors will be able to choose which direction they’d like to head in, while still viewing the latest blog posts at the bottom.
  • SWEET STUFF – Vince had a genius idea for a rogue space in the middle of the homepage.  I didn’t like the original intent for the space, so was going to scrap it but Babydoll and I agreed it needed to stay for the flow of the page.  You’ll now find a Sweet Stuff section, which will house rotating content, anything from important updates to great quotes to sales and promotions!
  • SWEET SPOT - Right past the Sweet Stuff section you’ll find the latest blog posts on the left, and the Sweet Spot on the right.  This area houses three great posts that I think make for some great reading.
  • NEW CONTENT – Not only has Sweet Phenomena gotten a face lift, but the squishy, fun stuff on the inside has gotten a revamp as well.  You’ll find a new About pageFAQ page, a starting point for homeschoolers, a starting point for new readers, and a portfolio page with some of my readers’ favorite posts.

You’ll probably find several other little things, but these are the most prominent changes.

The space feels fresh, new, and exciting to me.  I can’t wait to continue adding more great content that really meets the needs of you guys!

Oh, squee!

A real-life, grown-up portfolio of pictures.

This, my friends, is the culmination of weeks of learning the basics of photography thanks to Sears, Social Fabric, and Stewart Cox.

I am so very grateful to them for making this class possible.  I never dreamed I’d be able to take {and edit} the pictures I’ve taken during this course.

And while this may seem a little frivolous, I totally *heart* Sears for providing all 20 of us gift cards to purchase our own grill.  Love!

I am even more proud of my blog now, and excited that I have the basic knowledge necessary to include some killer photos.

I learned how to edit, how to use my camera in manual mode, how to properly use props and lighting, utilize angles, and more.

Sweet Critique: A Time Dog Review

I’d like you to bear with me.  Even if you think this post won’t be relevant to you, please, bear with me.

I have wanted to share this with you guys for a while; it’s something I think each and every one of you can use.

Have you ever had a moment {or five} where you think to yourself:

I need an assistant somethin’ fierce.

I bet you have. I have. Lots of us have.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a busy single lady, a mom with one or twelve kids, a stay-at-home dad, we’re all busy.

Many of us manage to get just about everything done, but there’s always that nagging feeling of the “more” that needs to be done.

What if I told you I knew of a service that could take a ton of that “more” off your shoulders, and do it in the most amazing awesomesauce manner man ever dreamed of?

You’d think I was crazy, yes?

I’m not.

Time Dog has created something truly amazing in a world filled with sub-par junk.

And their amazing is a double-whammy of stupendousness:  not only do they offer you a tremendously valuable service, but they give you unheard of customer service.

The Innovative Service

This was the part that drew me in:  “on-the-go service for personal daily tasks.”

None of us want to pawn off the fun stuff like eating ice cream or playing in the sprinklers.  Time Dog can’t have that.

What they can have, though, is the task of finding the best airfare for a trip you’ve got coming up.  Or the task of getting driving directions.  Or ordering dinner.  Or rescheduling an appointment.

The list goes on and on.

All of us have to-do lists.  Time Dog takes that to-do list and does it for you.

I’ve actually used the service, while I was writing my eBook {points to the right, where you can click and buy it…}.

I thought I was going to loose my mind, I had so much to do.  I didn’t have time to make phone calls or search for things on the internet.  I didn’t want to.

Enter Time Dog.

I bothered them so very much, I felt bad.  They never made me feel bad though.  What they did do was deliver better-than-expected results.

Instance #1:  If you’re a regular here, you know how much I love my dog, Winston.  Well Winston is terrified of the dark, and the car, and the thunder, and everything else.  I bought a Thunder Shirt for him, but it was the wrong size.  I needed to get it exchanged quickly, but didn’t have time to call our supplier.  Time Dog called and arranged the drop off.  All I had to do was show up.

Instance #2:  I needed a haircut.  Bad.  I didn’t have time to call and make the appointment.  Time Dog to the rescue.  Oh, but they didn’t just make the appointment.  No, no, no.  My lady was no longer at the salon I asked them to call {that’s how long it had been since I had my hair did}.

Did they give up? No.  They got the information for where my stylist was now, called the salon up {a couple of times might I add}, and scheduled my appointment for me.

They could have given up when she was no longer where I asked them to call.  They could have given up when my stylist didn’t return the call.  But they didn’t, and I got my haircut.

Instance #3:  Babydoll, like many girls her age, is in love with fashion.  She gets an {age-appropriate} fashion magazine and found a bathing suit in an issue that she just had to have.

It wasn’t on the designer’s website, and there were no stores near us.  Me, the person who can find anything online couldn’t find this suit.

I called Time Dog in to rescue me.  I had to launch my book and get to Reviewer’s Retreat.

I asked them to find the bathing suit for me in the Charlotte area.  They called the stores, there were no suits there.  They then called the designer to find out about getting the suit.

Time Dog found the one place online that sold the bathing suit, and also let me know that the only other way to get the suit was to order from the designer.

This all brings me to my next point…

Awesome Freaking Service

Lots of people could find stuff for you and shoot you an email to answer a question.  But that’s simply not good enough for them.

Their FAST {Family Service Team} members go above and beyond.  Every. Single. Time.

Sometimes you don’t have a special bathing suit or haircut need, you just have a normal everyday need.  They’ll still give something extra, whether that’s a nifty little fact you never knew {related to your request}, extra directions, extra choices, something.

Dude, I could literally go on and on about the times they exceeded my expectations.  This post is already pretty long though…

There are just no words to describe what an amazing thing they’ve got going.  Look at their first core value:

Give them a try, you can do so for free for 15 days, so what do you have to lose?  Nothing, that’s what.  Let them wow your socks off.
