The Secret Weapon for Your First Time

New Help1

Yesterday I shared with you a bit about our very first day of homeschooling.

I promised you I’d tell you about a little secret something I’d wished I’d had…

After writing So, You Think You Wanna Homeschool?, I realized that the book was just one part of what I wanted to do.

I really wanted to connect with people, to help them.  To just be there for them.

To offer them any support I could, to hopefully help them avoid some of what I went through.

I’m excited to announce that Sam {of Sam’s Noggin} and I have come together to bring you So, You Think You Wanna Homeschool? – The Class!

A Class for ALL Homeschoolers!

While our immediate focus is on new homeschoolers, Sam and I both feel that any homeschooler can benefit from a support system and a fresh perspective.

Homeschooling is always changing and we as homeschoolers love bouncing ideas off of other homeschoolers!

So, what will the class cover?

  • How to find the legal requirements in your area and fulfill those
  • How to find and choose curricula and other resources that work with your values, style, and needs
  • Specific ways to organize your homeschooling materials
  • The secret to successful homeschool planning and goal-setting
  • Stellar record-keeping techniques
  • Where to find your people {how to build your support system}
  • The things nobody tells you to do during your first week of homeschooling

You’ll get a ton from the course:

  • Seven days of written lessons, each including a video, handout, or both
  • Interaction and feedback from Sam and Tiffany, as well as your fellow students, in a private Facebook group
  • Two live chats
  • Access to all content, the Facebook group, and Sam and Tiffany for one full year
  • discount code for Tiffany’s eBook, “So, You Think You Wanna Homeschool?”

We’ve limited the size of each class to keep things intimate, so be sure to register before it’s too late!

We really wanted to make this affordable, and the first course is ultra-affordable!

If you sign up for our first class, you will get everything listed above for just $20! And, you’ll get a free copy of my eBook!

The First Time

Do you remember your first time?

Do you remember what you were feeling?

Do you remember who was around?

I’ll never forget our first day of homeschooling.

It was a gorgeous Fall day in Oregon.  We had all the fun boxes of curriculum.  We were stoked.  We were ready.

We took pictures.

We had nifty new binders filled with fun stuff.

 We went outside for art.

We watched as she was carefree and happy.

Turns out, that was probably the best day of the entire year.

A cross-country move followed one month after these pictures were taken.

We lived in a hotel for three months while we waited to close on our house.

We had to move into our new house and wait for our stuff to come out of storage.

In addition to the “outside forces” at work, I had no idea what I was doing, really.

I had no real support system, other than my husband.  I had curriculum and that was about it.

I stumbled along, not quite sure what I should be doing.  What it should look like.

I wish I had a road map, some sort of guide.  Someone to help me navigate all the questions that would come up.

The big ones {This math isn’t working, what do I do?} and the little ones {What type of dinner should I plan when we have a field trip that puts us out all day?}.

Stop back by tomorrow to find out about a little secret something that I wish I’d had…

Next Week is eBook Launch Week!

The day is almost here:  So, You Think You Wanna Homeschool? the eBook is almost out!

I can’t believe it; I never thought I’d see the day {at least this soon} where I’d have an eBook written.

It’s been a labor of love and it’s been hard to work through the self-doubt.

But, I’m glad I’ve done it!

I’ve got a couple of great giveaways coming up to celebrate, and during launch week the eBook will be 50% off {only $4}!

This has taken up a huge chunk of time, and while I’m glad I did it, I’m glad that I’ll be spending more time here again!

I’d like to again thank each of you for your support; I’m thankful for each of you!

Also be on the lookout for a couple of great homeschool product reviews this week, as well as an update on AboutOne!

I’m also really excited about a homeschool product we’re reviewing right now {social studies} that I’ll be reviewing in a couple of weeks!

Can’t wait to share it all with you!

“So, You Think You Wanna Homeschool?” Becomes an eBook!

Guess what?

I’ve got an eBook coming out!!!!

*points down*

I am excited to announce that So, You Think You Wanna Homeschool? will be released May 28th!

You may remember the series I did a while ago on the blog.

It took a humorous look at some aspects of homeschooling such as the need for a book bag and my inability to be one of those mothers who uses every waking moment as a learning experience.

Well, I took it and made it into an eBook.

But that’s really giving the eBook the shaft because it’s so much more.

The eBook is divided into two sections:  section one is for someone who is just starting to homeschool and section two is designed for those who aren’t so new to homeschooling.

While each group of people will definitely find useful information in their respective sections, their is great info in both sections for all!

When I started homeschooling I had a hard time finding concrete steps to get started.

I found a lot of information about evaluating my educational philosophy and the best way my child learned.  I read about not spending too much money on products.

What I found was a bunch of ambiguous stuff that didn’t help me.  I needed to know specifically what I needed to do to get started.

I’m a box checker, and I needed to know the specific steps to take to get started.

Section one puts these steps together for you.  You’ll find information about:

  • state laws
  • organizational methods
  • curricula
  • record-keeping
  • planning
  • socialization
  • and more!

One bit I’m particularly proud of is the listing of states and their laws.

The statutes and laws can be confusing if you don’t know the jargon just yet, so I took each state and separated out the meat of their laws.  If available, I also included a link to each state’s Department of Education homeschool site {or the state’s equivalent}.

Even if you’ve been homeschooling for a while, there’s still some really great info in this section if I do say so myself!

I’ve included lots and lots of links for extra-special reading!  Many of you are featured in the eBook!

Section two might be familiar to some of you, as the basis for this section is the original posts from the series of the same name.

Don’t worry, though; I tweaked it, made it better, added more substance, and made it new and shiny!

Just as in section one, lots of links are present.  Tons of great reading for information purposes, as well as motivation and encouragement.

Some wit is sprinkled in for good measure.

Because I am a box checker and because I like organization, I also included sweet extras at the end.

You’ll find checklists, link lists, and more!  So super cool!

The eBook will be available beginning May 28th, and for one week it will be sold for $4.  That’s half the retail price!

I’ve scoured the internet for and pulled homeschool information from all over the place and packaged it into a nice pretty file for you!

It will be available as a PDF download and on Nook and Kindle.

Be on the lookout for a super cool giveaway the week prior to launch, a free chapter, and more!

I want to thank each of you for your support; it means so much to me and I can’t wait to share this fun experience with you!
